Roman Reigns’ WWE reign ends after 1300 days
After more than 1300 days, the reign of popular wrestler Roman Reigns in WWE has come to an end, after he was defeated by Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 40.
Reigns became the WWE Universal Champion in 2020 and held the title for 1316 days, making him the fourth longest reigning Champion overall.
Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble match for the second year in a row in January and challenged Roman Reigns to a championship match at WrestleMania 40.
Last year, Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble match and chose to face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, but was defeated at WrestleMania 39.
At the event in Philadelphia, Jimmy Oso, Solo Sikoa and The Rock also entered the ring to ensure Roman Reigns’ victory. But the interference of these wrestlers was thwarted by Jay Oso, Seth Rollins, John Cena and Undertaker.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Cody Rhodes succeeded in defeating Roman Reigns by using his special stakes.
This is the first time that a wrestler from the Rhodes family managed to become the WWE Champion.
